I realize it has been a month since I have posted an update...but really, up until this point, there has not been much to report. Or, I would start posting new information, and undoubtedly Matthew would call me about halfway through my posting and give me new information that contradicted previous information that I was going to report...thus I made the decision to wait to post again until we had more definitive information.
Matthew has entered into his last three weeks of his technical school training at Sheppard AFB. He is still scheduled to complete his classes on February 28, at which point he will travel to..........are you ready for this..........McGuire Air Force Base in Wrightstown, NJ! This is where we are tentatively assigned for our first duty station. I say tentatively because this has changed a couple of times, so until we land ourselves in NJ, I consider it tentative. McGuire AFB is a joint military base (McGuire AFB, Fort Dix Army Base, and Lakehurst Naval Base) and is located in Central New Jersey, approx. 40 minute from Philadelphia, 30 minutes from Trenton, and a 90 minute train ride to New York City. Upon his graduation from tech school at Sheppard AFB, he will continue on to McGuire for 32 work days of training on his actual aircraft, then will travel back to CO for 10 days of leave, in which we will pack up our lives and FINALLY make a move together. We are really excited to really feel like we can start our married life together and are looking forward to exploring all that the east coast has to offer!
I am headed to TX on Thursday for my first visit to see Matthew since he graduated from BMT and am really looking forward to spending a nice long weekend with him. We look forward to providing more updates as they come and as we get more definitive information! But for now, Jersey here we come!
