Matthew is settling into his Technical Training School at Sheppard AFB and is rounding out his first week of classes tonight. Yes, tonight. He is currently on mid-shifts and attends class from 2330-0730. It has definitely been an adjustment for his body to be up late night/early morning and sleep during the day, but he is managing. He will continue on mid-shifts until the beginning of February and then will switch to day shifts and more "normal" class hours. He has passed his first 2 inspections and pending his passing of his inspection tomorrow, he will officially into the advanced training program (ATP), which essentially means that he will have more privileges and be able to leave base if/when he wants to outside of his curfew and duty hours. We are both enjoying his non-restricted phone privileges. He will complete the initial part of his training at Sheppard AFB on February 28, at which time he will travel to McGuire AFB in NJ or Travis AFB in CA for his fall out training (hands-on training on the actual KC-10) for approx. a month and a half. Matthew should receive his orders approx. 2 weeks before his completion date at Sheppard with our first duty station. We are anxious to find out where we will be moving come mid-April and look forward to sharing the news with all of you!
I just started my last semester of classes in my master's program and just have my practicums (student teaching) left tentatively for this fall.
