Let me take you on a journey that started in Denver, Colorado on a brisk early May morning. We headed west just as the sun was beginning to rise in the east.
After several hours of driving through the majestic Rocky Mountains, we ended our time in Colorado and entered into the next stage of our journey, Utah. Salt Lake City brought fun times with friends and family. There was four-wheeling, playing at the park, and good food. But time could not last forever, and before long, we were back on the road again. Headed west as the sun was beginning to rise in the east.
| This was a picture from my first drive out to California, but I wasn't able to capture the view as well the second time, so I am reusing this photo. Same view, different day. |
The salt flats brought much wind and Nevada provided similar weather elements. It was a grueling second day of driving, but as we approached the California state line, the sun was shining and the wind died down.
Once we crossed into California, we knew our journey was almost over. When we reached our destination, Travis AFB, we looked at each other, and we knew, we were finally home.
