First Phone Call

Ahhhh, I finally received my first phone call today from AB Lusher (AB=Airman Basic, which is his title while in BMT). It was so great to hear his voice and know that he is doing alright. 15 minutes sure does fly when you're being time restricted. Matthew sounded good, a little hoarse, I am assuming most of the guys are feeling a little run down. He said it is busy, feels like they have them doing 100 different thing at any given time. The physical aspect hasn't been too bad. He said the food was alright, he got to eat grilled cheese yesterday for Grilled Cheese and Jesus Day. They have this every Sunday, the AB's are allowed to attend church service for their denomination and then they serve grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch. His drill sergeant is a woman, which he said is different, but kind of nice. There is a difference between woman yelling and man yelling. As far as the yelling, he said they yell some, but it hasn't been too bad. There are a few other AB's in his flight that are his age, another small handful of AB's that are over the age of 21, and then the remaining are 20 and under. There are about 65 of them total, I think that's what he said. So he's not the oldest AB there, and I forgot to ask him if they made him Dorm Chief or not...topic for the next phone call. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers of support! Keep them coming! Matthew sends his love to all.
